Welcome to Grace College. I trust that as you browse the pages that reflect something of our school that you will be encouraged and inspired for what God has done and is doing in this special place.
Grace College is a school that believes God sent His only son into this world to give us a chance of everlasting life. To all those who choose Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, God promises a new life on earth and an eternal life after death. What a joy and privilege it is to share and model this truth in our school community.
The school is committed to providing a sound academic education in a co-educational and Christ-centred environment of love, kindness and gentleness. Excellent and committed teachers who strive to be exciting, challenging and relevant, provide a holistic education. Christ-centred education is taught and modelled through biblical teaching and emulating Jesus as a 'way of life'. Our challenge at the school is to balance the needs of society with the development of a faith that will direct the path of each child as they mature into the world in which they live. We will continue to strive to send, into the world, Christian leaders who are Kingdom servants, willing to give of themselves for the joy and benefit of others as they journey on the path God has destined for them.
Grace College was founded in 1999 and for the first 5 years was housed in the 'Quarry Shopping Centre' in Hilton. In February 2004, the school moved to the beautiful 22 hectare site on the Hilton College Road. The last 8 years have been an exciting time of developing the wonderful facilities the College now boasts. We trust that during the next ten years the facilities will grow to provide more classroom and sporting facilities.
Grace College is about partnerships, between families and the College, between each pupil and the teachers, and between the College and partner schools in our 'Masihambisane' School Outreach Programme. I have no doubt that the critical partnership in the education process is that between the parent, the child and the school. This is illustrated in the following poem :
The clay they used was a young child's mind and they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher, the tools he used were books and music and art;
One was a parent with a guiding hand and a gentle and loving heart.
Day after day the teacher toiled with touch that was deft and sure;
While the parent laboured by his side and polished and smoothed it 'er.
And when at last their task was done and they proud of what they had wrought,
For the things they had moulded into the child could neither be sold or bought,
And each agreed he would have failed if he had worked alone,
For behind the parent stood the school and behind the teacher the home.
Our prayer at school is that each pupil, each family and each teacher, will not only enjoy a happy and rewarding school experience, but also explore and delight in all that God has planned for our lives.
Please feel free to contact the school directly should you have any enquiries.
