The Grace College Academic Programme

The aim of the academic programme at Grace College is to prepare the pupils to reach their full potential academically and ultimately achieve the results they are capable of in their final Matric Exams. Without any level of expectation from the pupils, they are encouraged, challenged and motivated to achieving a sound work ethic, to being self motivated and self disciplined in their studies. As pupils strive for individual academic excellence, they will acquire the skills that prepare them for tertiary education and to be globally effective citizens. Grace College serves pupils who will achieve seven distinctions as well as those pupils who will work hard to achieve a Senior Certificate.

Strategic Plan
An ongoing evaluation of our educational theories and systems is something Grace College undertakes in order to ensure that we remain at the forefront of academic development. The College is wholly committed to providing its scholars with a dynamic, individualised education that will equip them to meet the challenges that lie ahead in the 21st century. As soon as economically viable, the College will include both Accounting, Tourism and Consumer Studies as choice subjects in Grades 10-12.

Friday Study Hall
The aim of Friday Study Hall is to ensure that all work scheduled for a particular week is completed before going on weekend, and thus placing a greater responsibility on the pupil to getting prescribed work completed. This includes all prescribed class work and homework set during the week. A pupil may also be required to redo any work that was not completed satisfactorily. Any tests missed during the week may also be caught up during this time. Parents and pupils must note that work that is handed in late or only completed in study hall need not be marked by the teacher. A standard "0" (zero) will be given to pupils for not handing in prescribed work on time, BUT the pupils still have to complete the work set. A teacher has freedom to use his/her discretion as to the marking of late work.

  • The study hall will be monitored by staff members, who will sign off the work required of the respective pupils. The pupils will be required to stay in Friday Study Hall until all the work has been completed.
