School Leadership Team

The School Leadership Team (SLT) is made up of all Martic pupils who, through the process of elections, are appointed by the Staff.

There is to be no restriction as to the number of pupils on the SLT.

Pupils may be added onto the SLT during the course of the years as they reach the Leadership Standards set for consideration.

Pupils will be evaluated on an ongoing basis as to their efficacy on the SLT. Pupils may be removed from the SLT on the basis of these evaluations.

Heads of School and Deputy Heads of School will be appointed by the Headmaster from the SLT.

Each member of the SLT must be included in one of the School Teams.

The Heads of School should not be head of any of the Teams.

The Heads of School will lead the SLT in the completion of the duties as required by the school.

The SLT is to meet with the Deputy Head on a regular basis. The SLT is to set aims and objectives for their term of office.

Each of the School Teams is to be co-ordinated by a staff member.

Specific duties and responsibilities, aims and objectives have been determined for each team.

The coordinating member of staff for each team will appoint the Head of Team taking into consideration the interests and talents of the pupils.

The relevant staff member will work with the appointed Head of each Team to ensure the effective running of each Team.

Teams are expected to meet on a regular basis (once a month) with the relevant staff member.Minutes and records are to be filed with the Deputy Head.

The mentor structure will be co-ordinated by a staff member.

Each Grade 12 pupil will mentor one or two Grade 8 pupils where necessary.

The aim of this mentoring would be to ensure the Grade 8 pupil’s integration into the school is positive and comprehensive.

The mentors will ensure the Grade 8 pupils know all the school rules and encourage them to adhere to these rules.

The mentor will ensure the Grade 8 pupil becomes familiar with members of staff and members of the SLT.

The mentor may tutor the Grade 8 pupil where needed.
