Sport
-
Grace College recognises the value of physical development in the education process as well as the value of participation in developing a child's social and emotional needs. The school encourages a competitive spirit and recognises the value of developing self esteem through sport participation.
-
All pupils are encouraged and expected to participate in at least one sport a term. Recognition is given to pupils who participate in other sports not offered at the school.
-
A policy of MAXIMUM PARTICIPATION is maintained as far as possible, whereby all participating pupils are given the opportunity to represent the school team. Where numbers permit A and B teams are selected based on ability, but where only one team exists in an age-group, all pupils are given a fair chance to play.
-
Whilst every effort is made to provide the best possible coaching and all individuals and teams are coached to win their respective games, the school does not adopt a "win at all costs" attitude. The focus is on commitment, teamwork, sportsmanship and the giving of one's best in the sport.
-
An Inter-house competition for the various sports disciplines takes place throughout the year and is keenly contested between the 3 sports houses. Pupils are expected to make every effort in the events.
